Primary Functions

  • Monitor the progress of Kenya’s Open Defecation Free (ODF) initiative
  • Identify entry points for engagement in their work

Detailed Description

Kenya initiated the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Rural Kenya Campaign in May 2011, adopting Community Led Sanitation (CLTS) as the core strategy to achieve the objective.

A web based Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) system was developed in the first phase of this process and handed over to the Ministry of Health with the support of SNV through a contracted agency.

UNICEF then engaged Advanced Geospatial Solutions (AGS) to enhance the capacity of the M&E System, and, make it more flexible & user friendly.

The CLTS Monitoring System is developed primarily to support offline /online data entry at the lowest administrative unit level, and, improve reporting along multiple gateways through simple visual elements.
